For the FESTA (Festival of Transitional Architecture) 2014 event, several groups from the architecture schools around New Zealand banded together to put on a show, seeking to re-invigorate the centre of Christchurch once again.
Our team of 20 strong architecture students had to conceptualise, design, fund and realise the project which seeked to bring a series of concentric fabric cubes to life through stunning visuals and the live interaction of participants.
It was our goal to tell the narrative of Christchurch. The theme for the one-night-only installation was, “The future will be live.” Our project tried to tell this story through movement and ideas of reinhabitation, and about the rebuild. Ultimately, it’s about trying to imagine a brighter future for Christchurch.
