This was a rather thoughtless model. It was essentially a means to toy around with several features I hand’t tried in 3ds max in the graphite modelling toolbar. The resulting form was also created by applying a lattice modifier over the top of it.
Because of the raw nature of the model I wanted to give the render quite a raw quality too, so this render is done with very few samples, giving the noisy texture to the ambient occlusion shadow on the plane. But I found that the result wasn’t too different from a higher sampled image as well, so it didn’t quite achieve what I was hoping for. The second image is the higher sampled render.
